Explanation of why Maimie is in Roanoke, news of the death of Hanna Fitz-Hugh, discussion of Jeffery's and her own personal ailments [rheumatism], fondness for Roanoke which she visits in an attempt"to sun up" and feel better, mentions fondness for the town of Danville, courting "some beaux," continuing that "Mr. Blair is not related to me but his wife's family is connected-- There is no "Miss" Blair - so I had no rival,- but there is a young Mr. Blair which is a great deal better don't you think so?" Also mentions going to St-Louis in the winter, loss of trunk.
