Expresses relief he is still in Memphis. Reports his regiment is suffering, with little to no food. Says the Baptist meeting is over and they "immersed" seventeen people. Comments she witnessed the immersion and "...became disgusted and went home thinking I had seen enough for one day." Mentions that Grier is at a party, but she intends to limit his socializing in the future. States she is glad that religion comforts him in all his trials.
