Each year, a state winner receives a $1,000 prize and advances as a nominee for the National History Teacher of the Year award. The national winner receives a $10,000 prize and is honored at a ceremony in New York City.

2024 Winners

Wunneanatsu Lamb-Cason from Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia, was named the 2024 National History Teacher of the Year. An enrolled citizen of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation, she was recognized for her innovative contributions to history education and commitment to advancing Indigenous studies in the classroom.
