Nancy's mother writes that she received a letter from Herbert for Nancy which she will give to Jimmy to deliver to her. She discusses financial struggles and mentions that Nancy's grandmother is feeling "fair." Nancy's mother brings up Grace King High School freshmen initiation and Nancy's "goofy" brother who has been playing his guitar over the phone for "some girl." She closes by reminding her to write to her grandmother.
