At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Urges women to demand equal rights for themselves, including the franchise, argues that the Constitution gaurantees equal rights to women, and offers a "Decleration and Pledge" for supporters of women's suffrage. Letter also states ways in which women should fight for the vote. Says the National Woman Suffrage and Educational Committee has been set up to coordinate these efforts, and makes an appeal for donations. Published by Case, Lockwood & Brainard. Written by the Committee of the National Woman Suffrage and Educational Committee, with Isabella Beecher Hooker as President, and also consisting of Susan B. Anthony, Jospephine S. Griffing, Mary B. Bowen, Paulina Wright Davis and Ruth Carr Denison.
