An editorial remarks on European support for the Southerners without removing their aversion to slavery. This issue contains at least four ads for fugitive slaves. An ad for rewards for the arrest of deserters includes names and physical descriptions of soldiers thought to be in the area. An inquiry about the chemical affinities of tobacco is discussed. A report details how confederate prisoners are being treated at Point Lookout, Maryland, including work, food, and inducement to leave the Southern army. A few brief notices comment on the Nelson Rangers: five young men between the ages of 12 and 18 have joined forces with the Rangers, and the Confederate Nightingales will give a concert for their benefit.
