The abolitionists declare, "We...maintain that there can be no legitimate civil government, rightfully claiming support and allegiance as such, that is not authorized, nay, that is not morally and politically bound, to prohibit and suppress slaveholding."

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
