Reports that nothing has been heard from the commissioners sent out by President James Buchanan to negotiate with Brigham Young, so he cannot tell her if Young has accepted the pardon offer. Moore hopes Young will fight. He expresses disdain for Young and thinks that any in the East who have sympathy for the Mormon cause are misguided.
