Writes that his brother, Thomas Ewing and himself came to Cincinnati yesterday and relays that Ellen (Sherman's wife and Ewing's sister) and the children are doing well. Remarks on Sherman's role in the Civil War, " ... we watch with interest the progress of the great expedition in which you have so conspicuous a place - hoping & praying for the Expedition & for you personally the most abundant success." Written on stationary printed with, "Burnet House, T.P. Saudners & Co., Proprietors. Cincinnati." Also printed on last page is the stationers' name, Moore, Wilstach, Keys & Co.
