Writes negatively about his officers, "some day and they will have to take the field and work as well...and not have fat horses to ride...and ride through camp and arrest men because they dont get up and salute them and arrest company oficers for talking with their men so we hant got a commistion oficer eny more the last one was arrested yesterday ..." Tells of his travels and military duties in great detail. "Went to westpoint and york river and built forts and breast works thare til we had worked ourselves most to death and then left there and came to yorktown on the peninsula..." Letter unsigned and incomplete. Most likely written to his wife, Mary M. Bogart, based on content. Pages numbered 3 through 6, beginning and end of letter missing. Small tear on all pages.
