Requests a copy of his military discharge papers. Explains his enlistment history in the 107th New York Volunteers from 1862-1865. Notes that there were several endorsements on the discharge and asks for a transcript. Written on stationary of the New York, Lake Erie & Western Railroad. With a partially printed document signed by the Acting Assistant Adjutant General from the New York Adjutant General's Office on the verso dated 6 February 1883. It indicates that this letter was returned with a certificate of service (GLC02710.46.02). Also informs Stanley that the office cannot provide discharge copies. Stamped by the Adjutant General's Office. General John G. Farnsworth was the New York Adjutant General.
