Bingham received Knox's letter of 30 June 1799. Bingham agrees with Knox that the "the Kennebec Tract has a fair chance of attracting a full Portion of Settlers." Bingham believes, however, that Knox needs to make the Lands attractive to purchasers for "Establishments." Bingham says he "is trying to Experiment on a large Scale, with the lower Tract." Tells Knox that the sooner these land deals are sorted out, the better.
