Written in the third person and signed in text by Knox. Informs Judge Iredell that he received the note he sent. Knox is sorry his business took up so much of his time that he couldn't enjoy the Judge's company. Looks forward to the Judge visiting Philadelphia "when a more intimate connection between them may take place." Date added later in pencil.
