Writes that he has taken the liberty to borrow five thousand dollars for sixty days. Discusses the terms of this loan in conjunction with his desire to send a ship to Canton, China, and has made arrangements with a Mr. Matthew McConnell. Adds that he expects the arrival of Mr. [Samuel] Shaw, his business partner, any day. Finally, touches on the debate in the New York legislature about granting the charter for a bank.
