Written from "Redoubt No. 3." Per Knox's orders and those of General Benjamin Lincoln, Secretary at War, he has visited the foundries of John Jacob Faesch at Mount Hope and Gabril [Gabriel?] Ogden at Pompton, both in New Jersey, and inspected the shot and shells they were commissioned to cast for the Army. Provides the number and weight of each type of shell or shot at each foundry, and declared they "stood proof and fit for service." Has sent a certificate to this effect to the Secretary at War and to the Ordnance Office. Also, per an order from Lincoln, has "collected the public stores at Mount Hope and Hibernia and have inclosed them in a picketed fence." See GLC02437.01707 for related information.
