Notes that Nicholls from Georgia, (John Calhoun Nicholls, United States Representative 1879-1880 and 1883-1884) has agreed to vote "to retire Genl Hunt as Major Genl". Further discusses Hunt's case. General Mackall served as chief-of-staff under Generals Braxton Bragg and Joseph E. Johnston, among other Confederate posts.
