Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by Morgan Lewis as Lieutenant. Document differs from 1450.603.14 as it is a printed sheet with names and notes handwritten in. Captain Joshua Bragdon's Company was in Colonel James Seammons's 30th Regiment of Foot in the Continental Army. Lists the names of commanding officers and privates. Countersigned by William Burks. Calculations, possibly for soldier's pay, handwritten on verso.
