Rebekah Barrell writes to her husband, William Barrel, in New York, a soldier in "Capt. Jacob's Company in Colon. Baily's" regiment. Sweetly expresses her desire to be reunited with him after his six months of service. Discusses making clothes for him. A letter from Rebekah's sister, Elizabeth Wilder, appears on the verso. She reminds William of how much he is missed and loved. Also, comments: "we hear that their is no want for female soldiers in the camp[.] Beware of the Bed Blankit disorder." Discusses other local and family news. Rebekah and William had been married less than a year.
