Collection consists of 55 photographs, largely dating from the Civil War period, and primarily connected with the N.Y. Volunteer Engineers. The majority of the images are carte de visite portraits, although the collection also includes several tintype portraits in carte de visite mounts, as well as images of structures (houses, churches, etc.) and artwork.
The collection is organized according to subject into five series:
