Letter written in response to a request for an autographed letter written by his son, Ulysses S. Grant. He writes, "I have no letter from him written for such a purpose..." He also gives a brief history of the family and concerning his son he states, "...it affords me some satisfaction think that I have reared a boy that has rendered a little assistance to Father Abraham in finishing his 'big job.'"
