Instructs Vose to purchase supplies and laborers, for the construction of Henry Knox's house (Montpelier), from suppliers who are indebted to Knox. Tells Vose to pay the suppliers one quarter in cash and deduct the other three quarters from their debt with Knox. Mentions he sent Vose the stone and iron work for the chimney of Knox's house. Noted as a copy.

Writes, "it would be time ill spent to call on the people for assistance - they say that when General [Henry] Knox is ready to fullfil [sic] his engagements with them, it will be time enough for them to make payment…" Reports on the raising of Knox's house (future estate at Montpelier), progress of the Masons;, and the shortage of supplies, including the oxen. Sends her best regards to Henry Knox and the rest of the family.

Informs Wilkinson his letters will be kept private, however, he will show them to the President of the United States. Discusses the conflict between Wilkinson and General [Anthony] Wayne. Comments he regrets the "disagreement which exists between two officers high in rank, and of whose experience and talents a favorable opinion is entertained." Also notes that no officer, regardless of rank, is immune from charges of military crimes and will be brought forth in a public manner. Copy of GLC02437.06142.

Total sum for the year is $2,197,805.65.
