Orders these soldiers put under guard. Asks him to send some proper person to take charge of the train. Docket notes that the situation has been resolved, and signed by Captain Sedwick. Banks resigned from the army in April 1863, and in December 1862 he was serving in the Western theater.

Differentiates between the South Carolina regiment and "our" men, from the "upcountry"; "they can stand that climate better than others." Describes a recent battle between his "advanced pickets" and "the enemy" which produced three enemy casualties. Among his troops, one soldier was killed and another…
