He is glad she has little Abby and she is taking her to meeting. He goes over all the various people he has heard that are sick and wishes them well.He writes that there is much sickness among the soldiers as well. Sadly many are wounded not in battle but by accident. He tells of an incident where the company was crossing the railroads and the cars came along wounding several men.

It looks like they will have one pitched battle in N. Carolina. The brigades will march in different directions. All sorts of rumers are flying about such as the Rebels declared peace and whatnot. He mentions little Abby and what songs she should learn. Despite a rocky start, their regiment is now highly respected.

He heard that Charlie Faris is going to Gaston's company. he knows his mother will take this very hard. Henry expects to come home the middle of December but is not sure. If Bragg "whips Reosencranz, he will.". Very, very faded. Henry discusses his distaste for those back home who refused to take confederate money as pay, and notes that he does not want to come home right now, as the yankees might capture him or otherwise make his stay unenjoyable.
