He heard that Charlie Faris is going to Gaston's company. He knows his mother will take this very hard. Henry expects to come home in the middle of December but is not sure. If Bragg "whips Reosencranz, he will." The letter is very faded. Henry discusses his distaste for those back home who refused to take Confederate money as pay, and notes that he does not want to come home right now, as the Yankees might capture him or otherwise make his stay unenjoyable. Written near Fredericksburg, Virginia.
