James Livingston writes to his brother about life in Scotland. He writes that Robert (the son) has arrived at his home, and will be settled once used to the surroundings. James writes that William Livingston's son Andrew was being held captive at the prison at Carthagina in Colombia, where he was "worse treated than their slaves." James also writes of the failings of the Scottish colony at Darien in Panama and the petitioning of King William III to allow a Scottish Parliament to sit in session. Docketed on address leaf.

Graham begins with consolation regarding the passing of Livingston's daughter. He continues by discussing a failed attempt by Gov. Fletcher to gain a commission for a Mr. Weaver, and yet mentions "My Lords interest continues very great at home." Furthermore, Graham discusses the case of Captain William Kidd, where Kidd's maid was forced to request some of the £ 8000 in gold owned by Kidd in the hands of a Capt. Clarke. Grahams tells Livingston that "if that [Kidd's fortune] could be secured, it might safe you of your bonds." Docketed on address leaf.

She was sometimes called Ida May, & was about 10 years of age." In a post script, writes, "Of course, the proslavery democratic papers deny everything that tells against Slavery. They deny the wrongs of Kansas!"

The collection includes documents and letters written to the Worcester family, especially the father, John, from Lieutenant John H. Worcester and his younger brother Charles H. Worcester. John was wounded at Fort Wagner, South Carolina, and taken prisoner. He was later exchanged and died from gangrene while aboard a hospital steamer. Charles survived Fort Wagner because he had been sick in hospital during the battle. Most of the war letters are written from St. Augustine, Florida or Follys Island, South Carolina. As surety, Theophilus conveys the right, title, and interest of a tract of land in Clay County, Kentucky, to Daniel (the land is known as "the saltworks tract"). Also presents Daniel with "the Abner Baker place," crops, farm animals, and slaves (including Andy, Bill, and George) until the debt is paid.
