He mentions having to maintain the resolve to continue fighting until the outcome the United States wants is met or it would be harder to negotiate a successful ending to the conflict.

Brown was the first African American to complete Navy flight training. Jesse Brown was a hero fighter pilot and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and also the first African American naval officer killed in the Korean War.

Pemberton goes into detail of a 2-hour show given by Bob Hope, Les Brown and other performers that lifted his spririts. Addresses a rumor regarding soldiers who would leave Korea by Thanksgiving or Christmas, and doesn't believe it would happen. He goes into financial matters, the last time he was paid, and how much "combat rations" cost.
