A print of a photograph of six Union officers. The tent to the rear is a "Sibley" tent attached to log base [wintered or garissoned for long-term dwelling] and appears to be attached to an A-frame tent in the front. A brick chimney had been built behind the Sibley quarters and a tin smoke pipe pokes throught the A-frame tent. The group appears to be all officers, and the two men standing on the right wear oiled cloth kepi covers. Inscription on verso: "Gardner XI or (IX) 291."

A barrel has been placed ont top of one of the chimneys. Soldiers posed around tent in the center of photograph. Seated on the ground in front of the officers is a small African-American boy holding a dog. A small house and a soldier holding a horse are in the background. On verso of mount is a long list of some of the images available from the publisher, taken by Mathew Brady and Alexander Garnder during the war. The mount also has a detailed printed border in red.

Gardner photograph. Inscription on verso: "XXIV" "338." It also identifies the location as "Petersbrug," however in the Photogrpahic History of the Civil War, Vol 2, p. 618, the scene is identified as Brandy Station. Evidence suggests Brandy Station is the correct location. Camp of A-frame tents, some with wooden doors and brick chimneys. Construction of tents suggests a winter camp. Camp is located in a clearing surrounded by trees. Trees in the foreground of the photograph have been cut down. A print of a photograph of the officers of the 3rd Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Heavy Artillery at Fort Totten. There are seven men present, none of them general officers. The door to the house is open revealing some of the interior of the house including the wallpaper and a piece of furniture. Note the screen netting on the open windows. Inscription on verso "Gardner 261." It has been suggested that this is a rare view of the inside of officers quarters.

A print of a photograph of the 41st New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Approximately sixty-two men posed around construction site. Note the partially constructed sidewalk in the left foreground and the lumber in the right background. The soldier's rifles are stacked. Some of the soldiers pose as if they are whittling and one looks as if he is drinking from a canteen. One soldier poses with a bugle and another with a drum, and many tug on pipes. Officers are present in the foreground. The 41st N.Y. was active from June 27, 1861 to July 3, 1863.
