Catherine Clinton, professor of US history at Queen’s University Belfast, has wrtten or edited more than twenty historical books for both children and adults, including The Plantation Mistress: Woman’s World in the Old South and I, Too, Sing America: Three Centuries of African American Poetry, which was named the 1999 Best Book for Young Adults by the American Library Association. Harriet Tubman, acclaimed as the Moses of her people, is one of the best-known American heroes. Mixing history and biography, Clinton humanizes Tubman while recounting her extraordinary achievements.
