At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One discharge paper dated August 21, 1956, notifying Crispin Raymond Reyes that he has been honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy as a storekeeper. Signed by J.E. Phillips. Reverse side contains birth information, vessels he served on, enlistment date and authority for discharge. Contains two notes that he received the Victory Medal for World War II and "American Area."
