In partnership with the National Cemetery Administration’s Veterans Legacy Program, we are pleased to offer free professional development sessions in spring 2024 focusing on different aspects of American Veterans’ and Service Members’ lives on and off the battlefield and how to effectively bring that content back to the classroom. As a part of this series, we are now offering an in-person workshop in San Antonio, Texas.
April 27, 2024, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. CT
World War II Portraits of Service: Women’s Army Corps
- Scholar: Professor Katherine Landdeck (Texas Woman’s University)
- Master Teacher: Patience LeBlanc
- Tour Site: Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery
- Stipend for Participants: $50.00
Professor Landdeck’s lecture will focus on the experiences of serving in the Women’s Army Corps. The pedagogy portion of the workshop provides an opportunity to use primary source analysis to understand the myriad reasons women served in World War II. After the workshop, participants will be taken to Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery for a guided tour of the National Cemetery Administration site.
In addition, this spring we will be offering another in-person VLP PD program at Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico on April 20, 2024. Click here to learn more and register.
