This summer we are pleased to offer four in-person seminars in California, Illinois, New Jersey, and Virginia. You can apply to any or all of these seminars with a single application, which you will be able to save and then submit whenever you are ready.

You will need to provide a personal statement (500 words or less) where you explain what you hope to gain should you be selected for this program. Here, please share how past, current, and anticipated responsibilities and experience, especially related to US history led you to apply.
Once you start your application, you can save it and return to it later. You only need to submit one application for all the programs, ranking the ones you are interested in.

If you are admitted to an in-person seminar, you will be responsible for a $50 non-refundable registration fee and up to $50 for purchasing required readings. Limited travel stipends may be available depending on the program. More information will be provided when you are accepted into a seminar.
A final schedule and required readings will be shared with participants before the seminar.
Participants will be asked to purchase (for up to $50) and complete the required readings before arriving on site.
Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements. Limited travel stipends will be available. More information will be provided after being accepted into a seminar.
The Gilder Lehrman Institute will provide meals, program activities, and housing near the venue.
Participants will be required to attend and take part in all scheduled activities.
Participants will be asked to bring a laptop, tablet, or similar device. Materials presented before and during the week will be shared electronically.
