Annette Gordon-Reed is the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and a professor of history in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She has published seven books and won numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize in history, the George Washington Prize, and the National Book Award for nonfiction. She is a Trustee of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Edward L. Ayers, Tucker-Boatwright Professor of the Humanities at the University of Richmond, is an American historian, professor, and administrator, and was the ninth president of the University of Richmond, serving from 2007 to 2015. Ayers is also a Trustee of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
