At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Consists of two pages from separate issues of New Masses and a copy of "The Mob Still Rides: A Review of the Lynching Record (1931-1935)." Newspaper clippings contain articles written from an anti-capitalist perspective, an includes pieces on the Chicago demonstration of 1931, the Scottsboro boys trial and treatment of Asian working class people.
