The letter is soliciting a donation from Mrs. Knight of Providence, Rhode Island. The letter is meant to accompany the pamphlet on lynching, insinuating that the statistics published are shocking. The letter is typed with a letterhead of the commission. In the left margin, the entire committee is listed. The letter is signed "R. R. Morton," who is the letter heading is indicated as the chairman.
