At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Prints a proclamation made by the President and Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania concerning keeping Sunday as a holy day, the "Lord's Day." Reports on new regulations for the Quartermaster's department on p. 2 including officers to be appointed, and the pay and supplies given for the different ranks. Also prints "An Act to Prevent any New Independent State within the limits Commonwealth," on p. 3, first column, which states that any attempt to form a new government within the state will be considered treason.
