At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Domestic news and classified ads inhabit pages 1 through 4. Letter to Pennsylvania governor George Thomas from the assembly in response to the governor's speech published in issue number 960. Letter discusses public affairs and Thomas' upcoming voyage. Includes the governor's reply. Section reserved for announcing the indentured servitude of residents, the return of runaway slaves, and departing ships.
