Circular letter from the Massachusetts governor transmitting the state legislature's resolution giving the governor and executive council the power to take any measures necessary in settling the "Claim of the State on the General Government" and a "Report of a Committee of the Council" on the subject (resolution included, see GLC06313.135). Urges the state's federal congressmen (which included Hobart) to help obtain remuneration for Massachusetts for costs incurred for the "defence and protection of our common country," probably referring to the War of 1812.
