Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Countersigned by Carlos Trudeau. Hand-drawn map, marked No. 893, on top half of recto. Delineates land boundaries that the written part of the document seems to describe. Red wax stamp on page three. Note near docket says "Recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the Commissioner of the lands claims west of Pearl River and East of Mississippi."
