Signed in print by Williams as President and J.S. Gilliam, Jr. as Secretary. Williams and Gilliam were members of the Ninth Virginia Infantry, Stewart's Brigade, Pickett's Division. Resolution sent to the Confederate House of Representatives. It was ordered to be printed on 30 January 1865. Says they are from Eastern Virginia and that their homes have been desolated and families oppressed and that they will not give up fighting. Five items are resolved. First one says the cruelty of the enemy proves the justness of their cause. Second says they renew their pledges of liberty while remember their fallen comrades and family. Third says they owe it to themselves and their fallen comrades to continue "to resist, to the last extremity." Fourth says they have no new pledges to make, but stand behind the ones they made previously. Fifth says it will be sent to: brigade and division headquarters, the Richmond and Petersburg press, and the legislatures of Virginia and the Confederate States. Purple ink stamp on recto is faded. Can only read the words "Record Division."
