Correspondence includes news items from other locations and other newspapers. North Carolina State Convention minutes are often printed. Most articles are war-related, and often an article on coast defenses is present. Contributions to soldiers are listed, particularly items handmade by women. The front page of each issue is compiled of advertisements; some ads warn that cash only, not credit, will be required for sales. The back page is made up of ads and court listings.
