As lieutenant general, standing in dress uniform. Shows Grant in full dress uniform, wearing sword and sash with his right hand resting on a table. Imprint on recto "Lieut. Gen. Grant. Entered according to Act of Congress, A.D. 1865, by Nichols & Howard, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri." Graphite inscription on verso "**Book." Photographers imprint on verso: "Nichols & Howard, Photographers, 60 North Fourth St., St. Louis, Mo."
