Sneed, Brigadier General of the provisional army of the state of Tennessee, discusses military details with Major General Pillow. Informs Pillow that Captain White of the mounted rifles will be traveling to Memphis. Writes that there has been "a difficulty as to adjusting the rank in squadron of the two Captains of Dragoons, arising from a misunderstanding as to the date of muster respectively of their commands," and that the matter has been referred to the Adjutant General, who will address the issue with the help of the Inspector General. Following their decision, a squadron will be organized. Reports "the Arkansas troops are being removed from the mouth of 'Cold Creek' near Fulton [Tennessee], and it is very important that the position lately occupied by them should be held by a small detachment of our troops." Advises that Captain White, with his Mounted Riflemen, should occupy the mouth of Cold Creek.
