Written by Knox as Secretary of War to Colonel Walker. Says he delivered Madam le Val the deed with the original names of the person holding the escrow. Says Walker still needs to sign it and that the deed is lodged in the bank. Encloses a letter for Mr. Duer, probably William Duer (not included). Asks that Walker reads it and to obtain the statement from Duer that it requests.
