At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

He believes they may move soon and that there will be another fight near Chattanooga as Grant's army is passing by today on its way there. [continued on 19 November] They have been ordered to march back to Stevenson and guard a railroad station. Written at Camp Whiteside.
