Begins his letter, "Dear Wife and only friend on earth it is to you that I write a few lines in rememberence of old times..." Speculates that "there must be a good many widows and orfant children now in the land that are made so by this war..." Asks them to write to him about home. Apologizes for the poor writing, however "it is hard work to write a poor pen..." Offers them farming advice. Letter addressed to Mrs. Abram Bogart in Masonville, Delaware County, New York.
