Informs his father that he is leaving for Helena tonight to meet up with his command. Discusses the disposition of his property in case he is killed in battle. Provides for his wife and children. States, "I do not look forward with any despondency or apprehension but simply suggest what I think will not be disagreeable to you & will be some consolation to me."
