At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Legal document that attests to and explains a financial indenture made between Peter Schuyler and his brother. Peter is obliged to make payments to the genreal estate of his brother. The document contains seven signatures at the bottom, including [Brant] Schulyer, Johannes Schuyler, G[illegible] van Cortlandt, R Livingston, Alida Livingston, John Collins, and Margaret Collins.
