In this letter Paul responds to accusations made by Celicia that he does not write enough, and tells her that he writes whenever he can, and thanks her for what she sends. He asks her to write when she receives the money he sent to her, and he complains that he has "not receved any leter for too weaks." Paul recounts in detail what the sutlers do at the camp, the foods they make and for how much they sell them, criticizing "the way these Sutlers make thare mony of tho Poor souldiers". Paul then mentions that he read about a smallpox outbreak in Williamsport, though he assures her that nobody in his regiment is ill. Last, he goes through men who he knows that are wounded, and names a man, Bruse Montgunery, who was known to be a deserter.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
