Inscription states "In appreciation for your genuine humanitarian concern, and your great financial and moral support in the struggle to realize the American dream." Below the inscription, the date 22 November 1961 is written in a different hand than King's. Content discusses the boycott of Montgomery, Alabama's transit system to force the desegregation of city buses. Describes the organization of the boycott, active opposition from white groups in Montgomery, and the aftermath of the protest. Illustrated with photographs.
