Hand colored lithograph published by Currier & Ives at 152 Nassau Street, New York. Print is mounted. Depicts the Battle of Shiloh. Caption under the title reads: "This plate represents the moment, when the heroic Genl. Grant rode to the left of the field, and placing himself at the head of a column, ordered a charge on the enemy, himself leading, while cannon-balls were falling like hail around him. His men followed with a shout and in the tremendous shock of arms that ensued, completely routed the Rebels, although they were commanded by their best and bravest Generals Johnston and Beauregard." Depicts Union columns in blue marching toward Confederates, while the Union calvary charge takes place on the right side. Several wounded or killed soldiers are shown, but without blood. The field is depicted in colorful greens and yellows.
